The medusa scene and the river scene with calibos..

.........Is so far ahead of anything in the two new clash and wrath of the titans films its untrue. Now i liked the remake, and yesterday enjoyed the new wrath film to, but for me the temple scene in this one with Medusa had so much more atmosphere and damn good acting its on another level to anything in the newer versions

Yes the stop motion is now beyond dated all way through the film, but medusa because of the music and lightning etc still for me holds up, when she turns his guard to stone and she stares hard at him, that bit is still so well done, and beats anything ive seen in cgi to be honest

And harrys acting was superb here, his scared but determined look was far better in that one moment then sadly sams whole acting in the two movies, which was just so wooden, even when he tried a bit of emotion, his thick oz accent did not help either, weird because obviously no one in the 81 version was speaking greek ever haha, but they all seemed from the same place so to speak, if you get me meaning, the new one had accents all over the shop

Again the river scene with the scorpions and calibos was by far more interesting then the scorps scene in the remake, as they were about the right size to believe any one man or even half god could fight and have a chance, the remake ones being so huge was silly looking, they would rush into you and that would be your lot. Also calibos was such a sneaky sod in this one, and had a great end scene

I will admit i am probably more pulling for the 81 version because it was part of my childhood, but i do like the remake and enjoyed wrath for what it is was (bit of noisy fun), so dont think i can be accused of being biased. Just wish the new ones had some kind of deepness like these two scenes did, i mean the remake Medusa scene was horrific, and not in a good way, it was super fast and way boring

I have nothing to add! 100% agree with you!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

Agreed. I much prefer the original 80's version of CotT then that god awful remake with whiney beyotch boy Perseus with the military buzz cut while every other male character has long, flowing or wild hair.

Agreed. Dated or not...the original Medusa scene was so terrifying yet awesome as a youth. Not only was she pretty freaky, but I also thought all the people turned to stone in her lair was creepy. Still to this day I love that part.

"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

Stop-motion is way more tangible and 'real' than the Playstation 2 CGI crap version remake. Dated or not, it was much better IMO. The scene was paced perfectly, and had a a scary, tense atmosphere that still gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Yea the Medusa scene was spooky and the stop motion effects added to it back then similar to the cyborg scene in the climax of the original Terminator movie.
