Cute film! (spoilers)

So many things about this film amused me from one scene to the next, like Alan Arkin's facial expressions, mannerisms, comical things he said...and much of the cast was star-studded: Carol Burnett, Danny Glover, Jack Warden, Danny Aiello, Ruth Buzzi, Adam Arkin. It was as if Alan was winking at the audience where his son's character, Charlie, was concerned. I could almost hear Alan saying "Yeah, this is my son, I'm bringing him along with me in any scene I can." I loved that and it's always fun seeing the two of them work together.

This film is about what you'd expect from that particular era. While it's no Arthur (1981), 'Chu Chu' doesn't really fall all that far behind it in quality and humor. Arthur has the benefit of being a story involving insanely wealthy people and a fantastically hilarious drunk. 'Chu Chu' has more to do with ordinary people who are down on their luck and trying to make a buck. I was hoping they'd be offered millions of dollars at the end like in Arthur, but you can't have everything.

People eat cotton candy. This is
better...it's made out of real cotton.

I watched 'CHU CHU AND THE PHILLY FLASH' again yesterday for the first time in a couple of years. Some scenes still make me laugh, especially the scenes in the park with the various hot dog vendors and the bad guys trying to find the right seller!

I noted in another Post I made on the Message Board how 'CHU CHU AND THE PHILLY FLASH' has been out-of-print on video since 1983. FOX released it in 1982 and '83, but hasn't released a DVD and never re-issued any more tapes after 1983.

I've tried to keep my old FOX video in good shape over the years. So far, so good!

I don't even know if the Fox Movie Channel ever airs this film???

It would be nice if they released a DVD. Somebody should air it occasionally, even if it's on insomniac 'theatre' or on weekend-afternoon television.

There's so many movies out there now it's not surprising CHU CHU AND THE PHILLY FLASH is mostly forgotten.

I do my best to keep my old tapes of it rewound and away from dust!

Even if there is a future DVD release for this movie it could well be one of those repulsive 'made-to-order' DVD-R's. Ugh!

The Fox Movie Channel must air this film sometimes. I just watched the movie for the first time ever (had to watch it on Youtube, where it was uploaded in 10 segments, but the picture quality was decent) and the Fox Movie Channel's logo showed up in the bottom corner a few times.

I reckon someone DVD-R'd an airing sometime then.

I've never watched a movie on my computer (or any computer, actually).

AT least it's out there for those who want to watch it and don't mind giving it a view on the computer!

I do my best to keep my 2 old "20th Century Fox" tapes (from 1982) in good shape. So far, so good. :)
