What is that music?

There's a really catchy music theme used throughout the movie (especially the chase scene and closing credits) that does not sound original; in fact it sounds classical - and very familiar. It's a strange cross between Gilbert & Sullivan, some French ballet score (there's a dance section in the middle of it) and an Offenbach overture.

It's not credited here. Does anybody know what it is?

Never mind. Tonight (slightly more than six months after my original post), I happened to catch a video clip on Classics Arts Showcase and recognized the music as that in the movie (went back and watched the film again to be sure).

It's the overture to ZAMPA (1831) by Hérold. Although the opera is completely forgotten now (as is the composer, for the most part), the overture has remained a popular concert piece. I've probably heard it on the radio many times over the years, explaining why it was so familiar in the movie.

Will try to enter the information on the movie's listing page.
