One of the best films of the 1980s.

The inspiring theme is that man is heroic, able to overcome difficulties and accomplish great things.

I saw it in February 1982 in Greenwich Village, NYC, and loved it. I thought it might win the Oscar for best picture, and it did.

Now it has become an underrated film, but I still enjoy watching it again from time to time.

Not just one of the best films of the 1980s, but one of the best films EVER!

Subversive: a clever synonym for self-congratulatory, generally used when attempting to justify one's guilty pleasures.

I enjoyed it as well, and am old enough to have seen it when it first came out.

But one thing has bothered me about the movie for a long time..at the 1924 Olympics in Paris, it is shown that the two Americans (Scholz and Paddock) come in first and second in the 200 meter dash. I wonder why it is not mentioned that Eric Liddell actually finished third in that race and won a bronze medal.
Just think that should have been pointed out.

As a Christian who ran track in college, it meant and still means a lot to me.
