One of my favorite movies as a kid

I found this to be highly amusing as a kid, I've seen it many times. I liked Ringo Star's performance and ofcourse Dennis Quaid is a long time favorite actor for me.

I remember many scenes, such as the iceman scene, the 'sh*t' scene, the firefarting etc etc. I still think this movie is appealing to young ones. This is a classic movie for me - I hope to see it again sometime.

This was the very first movie I ever videotaped. I borrowed our neighbor's brand new $1500 VCR and taped this, followed by Night of the Living Dead (cable was very new in our area). The videotape I bought to tape it cost $14.99. In 1981!!!!!!!!!

$15 for a blank tape? Daaaang!

There was a scene from "Knots Landing" that always cracked me up in the reruns. Nicolette Sheridan's character bought her dad and his family a VCR and they all made such a huge deal out of it. You know, but I guess it was a big deal at the time.

It made one a lot more choosy in what one taped. Prices were down to around $10 a tape by the time we taped the entire broadcast of the 1984 Summer Olympics.

I have to agree with deadly cookie who started this thread. It was one of my best and favorite movies as a kid along with many other movies that I watched.

Wildhart that is illegial you could go to prison for copyrightment dude.

reply

No. In fact, dude, it is not a copyright infringement or illegal to videotape television shows and films for strictly private use. In the case ''Sony Corp. of America v. Universal City Studios, Inc.'', the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that taping was allowable for private use.

does that still count for dvds?. i know you can make a copy of a video game but you cant lend it out and when you get rid of the original you are supposed to distroy the copy. when i was a kid i had beta and my dad taped alot of movies and tv shows, i still have all of them except for the one that got stuck and dystroid the vcr.

My Dad's friend had this and all the Cheech and Chong movies on betamax when I was a little kid. Everyone else had VCR's and I thought it was so cool to hang out there and watch those movies.

WTF was I doing watching those movies when I was 5 anyway....
