Saw this movie in the theatre when new (I'm 43, guess I would have been about 15 then). I recall liking the music a lot back then, and in fact, I still do (very updeat and catchy). I guess its a matter of taste, but then I grew up in the 70s. The theme music was by Bill Conti, famous for the Rocky soundtrack, among others. The music over the opening credits was purely instrumental, and a version with lyrics (Sung by Dan Seals) plays over the end credits. (England) Dan Seals had a number of hits with John Ford Coley back in the 70s/early 80s, and his brother (I think) was in Seals and Crofts (similar music that I suppose could be construed as "cheesy"). Again, its a matter of taste. And the times.
