I'm not so sure to be honest... most early 80s slashers had scenes like this, I don't find The Burning to be particularly egregious.

Agreed, it wasn’t rare for slashers to contain a bit of sexism.

In Friday The 13th part 2 a stalkerish dude shoots a jogger in her ass with a slingshot as a means of flirting. It wasn’t good behavior by any stretch but it was a common theme in slashers, horny guys pursuing women by any means available. Some of the actions were threatening or possibly criminal.

Then again many slasher movie final heroes were women which gave rise to the term ‘Final Girl’ which was kind of cool👍

Watching the 4k now and I do agree you can definitely see the creepiness shining through especially during that softball game at the beginning. The slowmo of the braless chick running, and that really young looking girl in those crazy short shorts.
