Which one's gay? - von Below or Julian Fellowes?

I once read the memoirs of Hitler's Luftwaffe adjutant, colones Nicolaus von Below. I didn't think he was so feminine/gayish as Julian Fellowes portrays him in this film.

I don't remember seeing other roles played by Julian Fellowes. I was wondering if it's just his personal style, or did director of The Bunker describe von Below as a feminine type purposefully?

I came on here to post the same question. Fellowes (Col. von Below) sure was effeminate in this television show. The first time I saw this I wasn't sure if the actor was portraying a gay soldier or if a gay actor was portraying a straight soldier. Either way I think it was just a little too much. As there were homosexuals in the Third Reich, I seriously doubt any of them were as open as that while 'on duty'-- that is, in uniform assigned to a post. Then again I wasn't there so who knows? =)

I think he was trying to portray how the aristocratic officer class did not approve of hitler and his street thug party.

Remember a lot of the generals were from old families, Prussian aristocracy.
And hitler a mere corporal wouldnt listen to them.

The brit blue bloods come across as effeminate too. dont forget.

That is true about the Prussian officer corps. but now that I try and think of the uniform von Below's was wearing I cant rememeber is he was Wehrmacht or SS. I'm pretty sure it was SS - with one oak leaf on a black background (Colonel General), most of the aristorcrat Prussian Officers stuck with the Wehrmacht.

Looks like Luftwaffe to me.

The real Nicolaus von Below was Luftwaffe but I can't remember if he was wearing the correct uniform in the movie, it's been awhile. If you called Luftwaffe then he must be wearing a Luftwaffe uniform in the movie as well though.

Certainly looks it to me.
He was one of the few to make it to the brit or Yank lines.
Lucky fellow.
