Remake of L'Emmerdeur

Has it been mentioned anywhere that Buddy Buddy is a remake of the 1973 movie L'Emmerdeur with Lino Ventura (in the W. Matthau role) and Jacques Brel (in the J. Lemmon role)? Couldn't find it anywhere mentioned. Hope this post is not redundant. Here's the link:
