Spanish DVD

There is a Spanish DVD available (http://www.fnac.es/dsp/?servlet=extended.HomeExtendedServlet&Code1 =3669138173&Code2=145&prodID=746894; barcode 8431797200601; Spanish title: "Aquí un amigo"). Its specs are as follows:

Audio: English Dolby Digital 2.0; Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0

Subtitles: None

TV-System: PAL

Region code: All (1-6)

Movie length: 91' 47" (should be uncut, corresponds well with the British VHS and its 4% PAL speed-up, http://bbfc.co.uk/website/Classified.nsf/0/9FFD2A8E83C328358025660B003 605F1?OpenDocument)

Aspect ratio: > 2.60:1, non-anamorphic (something went slightly wrong with the transfer, the picture is somewhat horizontally stretched. It's not tragic, but still noticeable. Aspect ratio should be 2.35:1 according to back cover.)

Image quality: Unfortunately, the picture is plagued with bad aliasing/dot crawl. It's a matter of personal sensitiveness but I thought of it as rather distracting.

Sound quality: English audio on the other hand was rather good. I checked the Spanish audio just briefly. It's definitely not as good as the English.

Bottom line: Since the DVD costs barely €10, I guess I can't complain too much about its shortcomings. It's recommendable at least someone has put it out on DVD.

How did you manage to get them to send you a copy? I ordered one back in December (my Billy Wilder DVD collection is missing only Buddy Buddy and Mauvaise Graine), and they (DVDGO) kept telling me that it was "out of stock" until they finally refunded my money when I complained to my credit card company that they had taken my money in December and failed to send me the DVD by the end of March. . .

I had it easy. Someone I know who happened to go to Spain on holiday brought it back for me. She got it in El Corte Inglés three weeks ago. I've also seen it on ebay, but they charge you an arm and a leg.

I bought mine here:

It took only a few days to arrive. But do not be surprised if mailing in Spain is higher than the cost of the DVD.
And yes, I also found it (if that is possible) "extremely wide-screen". But for Billy and Paula...!

On Amazon, this is listed as All Regions, but then there is a notice saying that it will not play on standard US DVD players. Why? All region is supposed to mean it will play in all players, right?

Also, why in hell isn't this available in region 1??

I picked it up on VHS as a used rental and transferred it to DVD myself. Since the rental was 20+ years old it is a bit blurry and grainy but since the movie was not a huge hit a dvd release, if at all, will be doubtful.

I am watching my copy right now.

The only movie that was harder to find with Jack and Walter is the Grass Harp.
