Screw the human cast - THE FLUFFY DOGGIE ALWAYS SURVIVES THE MONSTER INVASION. That's a cardinal rule of this genre. What kind of a cretin starts shooting a horror flick - especially in the 80s - and doesn't know THAT?

The last we see of Tiger he's taken down the air vent by one of the creatures, but we don't know if it's actually dead despite the tufts of hair seen on the vent. The wise thing for the filmmakers to do would've been to have Tiger run out of the house before it explodes at the close, which would've revealed that it somehow escaped the tentacles of the creature and was simply hiding in the basement.
