Her Name Is Matty, NOT Mattie, Maddy or Maddie

Just a "head's up" to the spelling-impaired posters here.

In my original post, I was pointing out that the deliciously evil leading lady in this movie is named "Matty."

That's the way Lawrence Kasdan spelled her name in his screenplay.

I was just trying to correct an inaccuracy, not criticize anyone's spelling.

BTW SnoozeAlarm, I don't see myself as a Spelling/Grammar Cop, but as a kindly teacher, guiding the uneducated with my superior knowledge in a wide range of subjects. Many people appreciate the depth of my wisdom, and are grateful that someone took the time to correct their mistakes. Those with foolish pride, however, get angry because they feel they are being ridiculed for their lack of education.

To those whose feelings were hurt, I offer this erudite thought from Confucius: "Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance."

Watch 'em Abe, I seen 'em do some things!

Are we sure her name isn't Molly?

reply

No, I'm pretty sure it was Madeleine.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

It's phonetically correct with any of the spellings listed in the subject, isn't it? As a character's name, it doesn't really matter much. If it a real person's name, it would be more important to get it right. (Cathleen Turner, wouldn't be acceptable)

I once read someone's accounting of an adult lady who had never eaten FISH STICKS. When she was a little girl, she thought they were made from the GENITALIA of male fish!

I recalled that on several occasions I intentionally misspelled real people's names to avoid search engine detection.

I once referred to the founder of MS as Gill Bates/

I also followed someone else's lead and used Niam Leeson.

(on both occasions, everyone knew exactly of whom I was speaking)
