'Halloween' Parallels

I'm surprised there isn't a thread on here already about this, but I couldn't ignore the scenes that practically ripped moments out of John Carptenter's Halloween, in particular the one when Joyce walks down the neighbourhood streets with her friend -- some of the dialogue is practically a minor rewrite!

There were other similarities, such as how Timmy is portrayed, which is quite like the character of Tommy in Halloween.

Did anyone notice this?

I had the same thoughts, having just viewed the DVD.

Yes! Even near the end when Timmy's sister says go over to the Wilsons to call the police (as in Halloween it was Tommy going to the Walkers to call the police I believe)I noticed a few things that stuck out but that was clear to me...

Also when Joyce tells Timmy to go to the neughbors and call the police, it reminded me alot of Halloween, as well as her friends dad being a cop.

I'm currently watching it on Netflix and it does remind me of Halloween a lot.

Just finished watching this on Netflix and I noticed the similarities right away as well. It's uncanny.

I can't think of very many slasher films I've seen that don't have similarities to Halloween. Just like I can't think of many zombie films that don't have similarities to Night of the Living Dead. But I feel this film has just enough of it's own unique style that it can easily be distinguished from any other.

It probably did rip off Halloween.

Its that man again!!

Yes, many parallels to Halloween. I noticed it at first thinking it was inspiration for Scream. Then, I realized -duh- it took from Halloween!

Yah they definitely intended to create similarities to Halloween, even the street (mentioned in the OP) was similar to the tree lined street in Halloween.
Also the Ford Van that the two teens have sex in - or begin to have sex in - when it pulls up is much like the shot and the van that Bob and Lynda use in Halloween.

All that was lacking was "See anything you like"! And I did!!!
