I absolutely love this movie and the Casey character. But I find myself fast-forwarding the parts with her older sister. She is just absolutely horrible! I hate her personality, the way she acts, speaks, looks, and her attitude and actions in the film. I would hate to have a sister like that.
Anyone else feel the same way?

Yes, I disliked the character of Gail too, but I think that was the point. She got all their parents' focus because she was the screw up, she whined and stomped off when she didn't get her way, but let's face it, the parents were really no prize either, especially the dad. Not that they didn't mean well, but the whole family was so dysfunctional, Casey was virtually ignored - they took for granted that she was such a good kid that she didn't need to be shown attention.
I have to say Gail was right on during the family therapy session about how she got all the attention and Casey had to get the point where her life was in danger from the anorexia for her parents to take notice. Yes, it was annoying how she put it, but she was right. However, I don't know what I'd do if I had sister like Gail.
I think Gail served an important purpose in the film but I wasn't fond of the character either.
She's such a snotty @ who would want to have sex with her in the first place. At least she didn't choose an abortion. Does anyone know if the actress was pregnant in real life?
