Hard to work with?

Someone I know - an avid movie buff - told me that Sally Field once said that she "would never work with him again". Seeing as how this was the only movie they ever did together (it is,isn't it?), it must've been this one.
He has a reputation as a hard guy to get along with - harsh, argumentative etc. And Sally Field seems pretty easygoing, though perhaps I'm being naive. I wonder what went on between them?
I read that during "Men In Black" he pulled the old trick of cooperating for the first week or so (past the point where he could be replaced; they'd already shot too much of the script), and then he started bitching about the script, refusing to do his lines as written, "They just arn't funny enough" he said.
"I like his work, he's always worth watching, but I wouldn't want to know him" someone once said.

I have never heard that of Tommy Lee Jones before. He and Sally had great chemistry together in this film and that's all I really care about - the on screen performances. Don't care if he's a douche behind the scenes.

That's interesting, considering that both Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones are appearing in the new movie "Lincoln". Either they don't have any scenes together or they have put aside their differences.

I just saw some preview clips for the movie, and they do have scenes together. Their characters (Mary Todd Lincoln and Thaddeus STevens) don't like each other, so maybe they just channeled their true feelings into their characters.

There are plenty of big name actors that work together only once, and it's easy for rumors like this to spread.

Field was on Katie Couric's show today, and she did not appear to bear any ill will towards Jones. Reynolds, on the other hand...I actually feel a bit bad for the guy considering his frail health.

Yes what Sally Field said was true but they made up during the filming of Lincoln.
