The most underrated moment in the film...

When Dudley and Liza are at the diner, after she said she had to change and he said he'd cover for her, Liza hit him with, in my opinion, the line of the movie:

"Arthur, last night, I could have sworn the moon was following me."

(Followed by an embrace and a kiss, which was the only time they kissed in the film.)

Great stuff; exceptional movie.

It is a lovely moment, it's just too bad the diner is so chaotic at the time that I don't think it stands out enough.

"Her first baby came out sideways, she didn't scream or nothin."

Eat your roll!

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

Pulled out a GUN!

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

The ‘Eat your roll’ actor acted in many noir films. I recognized him immediately although I don’t know his name.

That moon is tricky! lol.

Speaking of kissing, Arthur kissed her the day they met when the security guard was questioning her, so they actually kissed twice!

dhea-1, I stand corrected. Thank you for that.

I just watched the movie again the other day and remembered the first kiss!

One of the things I love about that scene is after she says "I could have sworn the moon was following me," if you listen closely, he says "It was." Then he leans in and kisses her.

I thought it was very sweet.

Thanks for the info. This made me pay closer attention to that scene when Arthur was on TCM last night.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

I love this scene too. I even love the fact the natural sound slightly drowns her out. Makes it all the more special somehow.

For me it's both scenes -- including the one this bookends -- the first one in which she tells him she thought the moon followed her each night. Then this one, when it's like she's admitting finally that things can actually work out for them. It's lovely.
