Didnt Hobson mean 'winter'

At one point at the race track, Hobson explains what having no money would mean to Arthur and says 'Tramps freeze in the summer..' Was this a goof or am I missing something?
Anyway, I think this is a wonderful, funny heartwarming film. The script is witty and natural and the performances and chemistry between Moore, Minelli and Geilgud is Golden.

I remember my wife asking me about that line, too. I always took it as Hobson relating how bizarre it would be for Arthur to go from being rich to poor. As if, he would freeze in Summer and fry in Winter. Agree on the film, one of my early 80's favorites (in theaters and on cable!).

I took it to mean that being homeless is so terrible that even in summer there are times when a "tramp" is cold.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

That's how I interpreted it as well. No matter what time of year, you will be suffering!
