Totally rotoscoped?

Was all the animation for the people rotoscoped?

reply

Mostly yes. There are a couple moments where it is paintings of the characters, but mostly it was all rotoscoped.

I just watched the DVD of this... and it's too bad he didn't have the budget/time to animate a lot more without rotoscoping. I don't mind the rotoscoping, since he's stylishly fit it in with newsreels, cool matte paintings, etc. But, the non-rotoscoped parts (all too brief) really stand out. Also, in defense of it, imagine if this was all live-action! Not quite as striking, eh?
