All the Marbles a comedy?

One thing that has always bothered me was the categorizing of All the Marbles as a comedy. It did have it's humorous moments but I think the movie as a whole shoud have been an action/drama. Even Rocky had it's moments but to lable it a comedy would be ludicrous. I think the subject of women's pro wrestling still had that novelty stigma when it was released. For me it will always just be a great gem of a film. Great cast, great action, great story. Look for it in the comedy section of the video store, no. But I do know I can find it in my own personal library.

Agree 100% -- there may have been a few funny lines, especially from Peter Falk (one of his better roles, by the way), but All the Marbles is action/drama all the way. Great story, great cast -- especially Vicki Frederick as Iris who really carries the story (and also has some of the best and most brutal of the wrestling sequences). I'd buy a DVD with outtakes, commentary, etc. in a heartbeat, and would have loved if they actually made the sequel "California Dolls Go to Japan" as originally planned. Too bad the film did poorly at the box office, but from what I can tell, there remains a core group of fans who fell in love with the girls the moment they first laid eyes on them, me included!
