Remake--Who to cast?

If they were to ever do a remake, who would you like to see cast as Molly and Iris? My primary choice for Iris would be Jessica Biel, maybe even Haylie Duff, while for the part of Molly, I'm thinking possibly Kirsten Dunst, or maybe Tara Reid.

My friend made this. We also think Ray Romano would be a good Harry.

I would like to see Vickie Frederick and Laureen Landon reprise their roles years later defending their titles or making a comeback. It's too bad this movie wasn't immediately made into a sequel like originally planned.

I've given this alot of thought and in the end my choice would be Eliza Dushku as Iris and either Pamela Anderson, Amy Smart or Ali Larter as Molly.

Still haven't made up my mind about who would be best for the Iris roll. I like your idea of Kirsten Dunst as Molly though; it would be great to see her in the ring in a wrestling outfit.

Now that I've had a bit of time to think things over, I'd still stick with Jessica Biel as Iris as my first choice. My second choice: Katie Holmes! My third choice (and it's a long shot): Natalie Portman. Fourth choice: Vanessa Marcil

For the part of Molly, I've reconsidered my first choice. My first choice would be Elisha Cuthbert (24), my second choice: Kirsten Dunst, my third choice: Ali Larter (this suggestion intrigued me and still does. My fourth choice would be Jill Wagner (Blade: The Series)

Oh, I forgot. One addition to my choices for Molly: Maggie Lawson (Psych). And one other addition to my choices for Iris. One of my original choices for the part of Iris: Haylie Duff. Hm. Here's a thought: How about both Duff sisters? Haylie as Iris and Hillary as Molly? While we're at it, how about Sarah Michelle Gellar as Molly? And how about throwing in Alysson Hannigan into the mix?

http://www.myspace.com/norfolkdolls - how about these 2 girls who's characters were based on those in the film.

reply

Sorry, but I'm not going to view the profile of two 15-year-olds whose characters were based on two adult women. Maybe you should consider deleting your post.

I would go with Alicia Witt and Scarlett Johansson. Just a little variety.

How about Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan? Put some meat on 'em and you could turn it into a t.v. show.Seriously though, there's not a lot of actresses these days that would willingly get roughed up and bruised, let alone wrestle other sweaty women in a one-piece. I'd love to see, say, Tia Carrere and like, Brigitte Nielsen as 2 weather-worn over-the-hill actresses looking for glory. It's not realistic to expect today's crop of actresses to do a film like this.

reply

Well, I would think there are some actresses who don't want to be seen as sugar and spice and everything nice, so there's always a chance. Or they could always bring in an unknown or two.

My primary thoughts are that you are a total moron. Leave it alone, you incredible imbecile.

reply

The whole purpose of my original post was to see what other people thought about who would be cast in a remake of the original. There is no need for name-calling. Such behavior should be relegated to the schoolyard.

The whole purpose of my reply to your useless post is that one too many imbeciles are posting similar garbage.

You sir, if you are not already working for a movie production house (perhaps specializing in remakes of already good movies for quick cash), should avoid seeking a career in the movie production business. Seeing as it is already full of talentless, money worshipping, lazy, soul destroying, shameless hacks. Your particular ideas, while still offending the public at large who like old movies the way they are and don't want their memory tarnished by shoddy remakes, would also be looked down upon by the other no good talentless hacks out there.

If on the other hand you do already work for one of those production houses and are perhaps vetting your ideas with the public before recommending your production house buy up the rights to this film, then I dutifully suggest that you seek redemption by removing yourself from polite society and jump off a remade replica of the Golden Gate Bridge. Take some of your producer friends with you. Please, do everyone a favor.

For everyone else reading this poor, pathetic thread, do any of you notice that whenever you visit the page for a really good movie from a few decades ago, there is sure to be someone there asking everyone what they would think of a remake of this and who would you like to see cast in it and here is what I would change about it? Is IMDB being used by producers to vet ideas about easy to make remakes? Are we in fact helping them to put out substandard product based on well made movies, whose only crime was to have been made before the 14 to 25 year old crowd had a chance to see them? Will using the same script and adding todays special effects make up for the substandard acting that inevitably infests these remakes? I say that if these parasites who have taken over Hollywood cannot come up with ideas of their own then they should step down and hand the reigns of power in Hollywood to a new generation of film makers who are willing to take a chance instead of retreading older movies into mediocrity.

Anyone else contributing a cast call of recent actors in a sorry attempt to remake this film deserves a wakeup call consisting of a swift, solid kick in the posterior.

Hmm. I forgot about them. Missy Perigrym would be another back-up choice.

I like the thought of Vanessa Marcil playing Iris. Nice call =)
