USA DVD release
I have found one on learmedia.ca but have no info if this is bootleg, quality of copy or anything else. Anybody ever hear of them? The contact info on the site gives a po box out of Moose Jaw, Sas., CA. Makes me wonder.

shareI suspect that these are pirate copies from VHS. The series hasn't been released officially on DVD yet.
However, Umbrella Entertainment plan to officially release it on DVD in Australia late 2008.
I bought a DVD copy from Learmedia and it seems blurry and faded. I can't wait to buy a really good region 1 DVD. I watch this movie at least once a year.
shareYES!!!!!
Where can I put my name on a list for the DVD Region 1 Release. This is such a great movie. I burned a DVD of my old VHS 5 hr version just to keep a watchable copy.(By the Way, try finding a VHS player, digital is phasing them out) The color is washed out but the story is still there. Late 2008, I can't wait!!
I just received a handmade copy of this on DVD from SantaFlix.com. This appears to be the uncut version and the color is much better than my old VHS copy I made years ago. I will say this though, the transfer seems better than VHS, it's not great and could be off an old Beta tape. The sound is very clear. The shipping was reasonable and it got here in about 5 days from California. Being this movie is was worth it, the $30 gamble was a small price to pay, I do hope they re-release this someday!

I just went to amazon.com where it shows it as not available yet on DVD for region 1, but you can put your name on their email list to tell you when it is available. Amazon is reliable and will email you as they say they will.

I emailed Umbrella media yesterday to see if they had an official date for the release; I was told that they were having trouble securing the rights to the film. Does anyone know who actually owns the rights to the film? I would love to contact them to see why they are stalling.
shareI just found THIS -------> http://www.redcarpetvideo.net/tolial19dvdt.html
Is it dependable? I don't know! I'd love to get this for my mom for Christmas, but I am terrified of my credit card number being stolen. I don't like ordering from websites I'm not familiar with :S

I got the uncut version through Santa Flix (santaflix dot com), a U.S. company, not out of Canada like lear. EXCELLENT and complete at least. Great picture and sound. My wife and I are really big on this one. We watched it during its original broadcast when we were first dating. I can't tell you how much it meant to finally get the uncut miniseries after the dreadful VHS release.
