does anybody else watch sons and daughters?????

I only started to watch sons and daughters a year ago. I vaguely remember watching it when I was younger. It was probably a re-run as I'm only 20 now, so it was probably about 1990, not too sure, but I love it. I live in England and for the past year I have got up at 5am on a saturday and sunday morning to watch it. Sad I know! I just think it's great. I'm also a big fan of Prisoner cell block H. Australian soaps are the best.

Is there any other Sons and Daughters fans out there??????

I'm a big fan of Australian TV programmes too. Did you ever watch Shortland Street, Take The High Road or Flying Doctors. I liked them too. I used to watch Neighbours and Home and Away every day, I don't get chance to watch them much anymore though.

I watched it in the 1980's, it is my all time favourite soap, Pat the Rat was my fav character. I wonder if they'll do a dvd release?

972 episodes!? That'll be one big DVD box-set!

For most TV shows of that length they tend to just have "best of" dvd's -- if they are released at all.

HOWEVER, a guy is offering DVD transfers from TV on ebay of the WHOLE SERIES, check it out;

I didn't stop to think how big the box would be! I'd be happy with a best of dvd.

That one on ebay is £400.00

I'll just live with my memories then.

Yes. I actually felt there were very few sets which were decorated in the styles that were seen as fashionable in the 80s. Sets which I thought looked trendy (for the dates the episodes were produced) were: the Morrell apartment; the Fisher house and Caroline's town house.

I loved watching sons and daughters in the 80's, i too taped the last everm episode. The storylines where very over the top, but very enjoyable. I would love to see a run again on british tv.

If you are a fan, maybe you can tell whether the Suzanne Fox who listed on this site as being an actresss in this show, is the same Susan Traynor,
also known as "Noosha Fox" from the rock group "FOX"?

She is said to have quit working in the music business (Australian or otherwise) in the early 80's.

Please respond to this querry.

Very truly yours,

D.

wow...this brings back memories...

I loved this soap.....
I'm from the Netherlands and if I remember correctly one of the best viewed tv shows.

absolutely loved Pat the rat not even Alexis or Sue Ellen can top her but only played by Rowena Wallace not the other actress which replaced her.

Didn't Rowena get back later as an other character??

greetings, Nat

reply

Yep!!
She came back as Patricia's Twin sister who Beryl became freindly with when she was in jail. From what I can remeber she was a really nice character i cannot remeber what happened to her. Did anyone see Rowena in Prisoner as Anne Griffin, She was a completly diffrent Character really mad she tried to kill Bea.Lizzie.Doreen by blocking there escape route when there escape tunnel collapsed.

I needed a good chuckle when I wake up in the morning. Sons and Daughters with their multi-dimensional characters (some who overact completely - like the actress who played Charlie).

However, the eye candy was sufficiently covered by the ocker, macho David Palmer and the scheming and marvellously hairy Wayne Hamilton - both of whom would have looked fab in teeny-weeny Speedos way back then...

But now? I dunno...

Yes love it!

Surprised to learn kim lewis is married to john howard! She is a cutie in sons and daughters and also the earlier classic the restless years. Tried to google her and all i could find anywhere was a photo of her and wayne from s&d. Wanted to see what she looked like now!

Also just discovered while looking up some info on shannon kenny(of invisible man fame)after i saw her in an ep of seinfeld, that she is an australian actress who was in s&d in 87. Never knew she was australian.

Good to see so many fans of Sons & Daughters. I have not watched it for a few years but have fond memories. Sad to see that Pat McDonald (Aunt Fiona) and Brian Blain (Gordon Hamilton) have passed away.

My favourite character was Barbra Hamilton.

I just watched the episode where Alison got bitten by the snake that was in the safe and Wayne got chased by the shark.

It has started again on ch7 in Sydney, every Wednesday night at midnight.

wow, I just came here today after watching that very same episode-Sons and Daughters just started up again as re-runs and it was the first time I have watched it since it was on in the early 80's and I was only 6 or 7 years old. I recall the theme song, and both Patricia's and Wayne's characters vividly from that time, but was too young to comprehend the context in which they appeared to me as being just very 'nasty' people. My family were glued to the tv when it was on back then! I thought Wayne was very sexy and after watching it again today, 30 years later, I can safely say that I can see why I thought so back then. Omg those lashes and big brown eyes!!! I also loved seeing him be tender with his (believed-to-be)'son' "Tick" after only remembering him as a badass. Now I need to read up on the background to know who is who on the show, because I was confused today by this 'Alison' character...she seems similar to Patricia but how does she fit in with the scheme of things? Great show anyway, nothing like it around these days sadly.

She was rather over the top wasn't she.

It's just started again in Perth, on channel 7 TWO. (currently up to where Lyn finds out she's pregnant).

I started to watch it when it was first run, but it was on same time as Greatest American Hero. Nobody had VCRs in those days, and so I gave in to the kids. The afternoon re-runs clashed with my job, so I ended up watching it 3rd time round at 6am.

Too bad Ian Rawlings was fat and bald by the time he joined the cast of Neighbours.

Having not seen it in years (at least the very early 1990s) I just watched an episode. Surprisingly it stood up well.

Well, except maybe the theme song.

Used to watch it in the UK (mid 1980s) when I came home from school. For me it was better than Dallas or Dynasty. The initial storyline of John on the run and being reunited with his Mum and Angela made for great viewing but as the show progressed it saw the departure of the twins, Susan, Kevin, Patricia and Jill. Future plots involved Patricia hitting the road to Rio and coming back in the guise of Alison Carr, plus lots of forgotten children and skeletons in the cupboard. But I think the death knell hit this show when in one episode they abrubtly disposed of characters like Barbara, Irene and Samantha, their rushed-in replacements consisted of Craig, Glen, Debbie and a new look Susan Palmer whose place in the show was pointless to say the least.
