Questions (spoilers)

For those who have seen every episode. I've only seen the first four seasons, but I'm curious--

Do we ever see A.J.'s girlfriend Liz?

Are there any episodes where Carlos is visibly shown?

I loved 'Marlowe Come Home.' Are there any more episodes where the dog gets significant screen time?

Does Cecilia ever have a regular boyfriend?

How is Town's departure explained?

Is Rick & A.J.'s half-sister ever mentioned again?

Do the guys keep the Camaro and the Power Wagon until the end? Or do they get new vehicles later on?

Any major changes in hairstyling or clothes? Or do they still look pretty much the same at the end of S8?

My least favorite plot is the one where there's corruption in a small town or rural community. There were two of those episodes in season 4. Does this plot keep showing up during the remainder of the show's run?

To answer your questions in order:

No, though AJ does go to the front door to her house in season five, episode one.

Yes. He's seen sleeping on AJ's floor in one episode. He's heavset, older, and sort of balding.

Marlowe is gone from the series after season six. No explanation is given. I think he gets mentioned once or twice, though.

No.

Abigail quickly explains that Town is on an undercover detail and has been transferred. Something along those lines, amyway.

No.

Yes. Power Wagon and Camaro present and accounted for. However, the Simons almost completely abandon their Undercover Shtick during the last two seasons.

Rick grows out his stache and sideburns a little longer than he had in S5, when he was comparitively clean cut. His hair and stache were longer in S1, though.

I believe there's one or two but I may be thinking of the health club retreat episode with the crooked sheriff...okay, maybe one more episode? Corrections are welcomed on this and any other points.

Thanks for the detailed answers. Sort of heartbroken to learn the dog isn't in the last two seasons.

Yes, there are several health club/retreat episodes. I suppose they wanted to break up the monotony, instead of having everything take place in San Diego all the time.

Never more than a single limb.

That one I shall have to leave to others to answer, but I don't believe so. He is in some episodes quite a bit in passing though.

Does Cecilia ever have a regular boyfriend?

Not one that appears in multiple episodes, no. I think she has the same (unseen) one for a while though.

How is Town's departure explained?

He's moved on, and then just never really gets mentioned again. Once they've clearly established that Abigail does things differently, he ceases to exist in everybody's memories, it seems. Typical of television, but rather sad.

I need to watch that one again to be sure of that answer, but it really is your standard off-screen departure. Always sad, and never decently in character, whatever the show it happens in!

No.

They keep those until the end.

Rick's hair steadily declines! AJ makes a few concessions to changing eighties fashions, but that's about it.

Not that I recall. Again, might have to leave that one to somebody else!

I find concussion quite invigorating.

I agree-- Town would deserve a much better send-off. He's an important character for five seasons.

reply

The one thing they do for Town's "send off", is when Abigail tells the Simons that he's been transferred, Town's framed caricature is still on the wall behind the desk. He must have cleared out fast for there not even to be time for him to clean out his office!

I was prepared to despise Abigail, but she turned out to be a good character--but no one compares to Town, and the chemistry he had with Rick and AJ was outstanding. In fact, when Tim Reid was announced as having joined the show, a childhood buddy and I were excited about it since we loved his Venus Flytrap character; the chemistry he had with Howard Hesseman's Johnny Fever was another great pairing.

reply

Interesting they chose to replace Town with a female instead of another male lieutenant.

If I remember correctly, Reid left to star in the sitcom Frank's Place. It was created by his old WKRP boss Hugh Wilson and costarred Reid's wife Daphne Maxwell. It only lasted a season. So technically, it would have been possible for him to return as Town in a special episode during the 88-89 season. I guess the character was long gone (and forgotten?) by then.

The man she met in the episode The Club Murder Vacation also appears as the same character in Caught Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, with the same actor returning in the role.

Are there any episodes where Carlos is visibly shown?

He briefly appears in Shadow of Sam Penny sleeping on A.J.'s floor while Rick was looking for the snake.

Thanks for the replies. Good to know Cecilia gets a bit of romance from time to time. :)
