Will It Ever Be Released On DVD?

Anyone else love to see this one released on DVD? Anyone?!

reply

DVD or VHS...I don't care; just release it so we can buy it. Great show!!!

Hear, hear. I have a copy that I taped from HBO ages ago, but I'm sure it's deteriorated to junk by now. I think anyone who saw this can't have been all that surprised when Reubens was arrested. But he's still a comedic genius. And the late, great Phil Hartman is great in this as well.

Its a real shame they took pee wee away from us!

I would really love to see him come back, but i imagine paul reubens has gotten a bit older since 1991 and i wonder what pee wee would look like today.

Whats todays secret word ?

I have a copy on VHS that I bought from Blockbuster for 2.99. As I write this, i am transfering it to DVD. My favorite is the Sly Stone tribute. HOOooAhhhh!

i have the playhouse on dvd which is in pretty bad shape. i've been looking for the special but i can't find it. i'm tempted to get it off of ebay. they just started to put the playhouse on dvd & in a year or so it will have commentary. i'd wait if you're planning on buying that. i saw the christmas special on dvd too. i also heard paul reubens on the radio. he's making a new pee wee movie. he's making a come back.

Well, I don't know if anyone will get this in time, but it's about to come on HBO at 7:45am. It'll probably be on again this afternoon, so go check it out. I'm totally excited !!!

Thanks a bunch.

It's playing on the HBO comedy channel on 7/18 and 7/24.

Can you say TIVO? (At Best quality!)

May the god of your choice bless you!

It's the same (original) show from 1981. Try to find someone with the HBO comedy channel as if you are a Pee Wee fan and have never seen this; well, you'll want to see it!

ahhh!! I want it on DVD. I have never seen the show. :( My friend called me 10 o'clock at night one day and told me she was watching it on HBO. jealousy burns.

It is sad they took Pee-wee away from us. I love him. Oh, and he's 53 years old now...and still looking young. But at least Paul is planning on 3 new movies for us! I just havn't heard anymore news about it since April of 2004...

Don't hold your breath.

This link goes to an update given by Paul himself (for the films, not the show coming to dvd/video). It doesn't give a timeframe for when the movies will be in production or come out, but he did give a little information as to their contents or style.

Either way it is good to hear him talking about it and know that it's still in the works. :)

His ears must have been burning because this Q&A was done just a few days after your post!

My dad has a copy of it on Beta...I'm pretty sure it's some sort of official release, or an amazing copy from television. I know Beta doesn't do anyone much good NOW, but I'm sure it means it's floating around in a good form somewhere...

reply

It is going to be released on dvd in 2006.

Looks like it's been pushed back, the official Image Entertainment website lists a July 18th release date. Image is the company releasing the DVD so it doesn't get much more official than that.

It's not the real, full deal unless it's got the Dr. Mon-doll hypnotizing Joan.

(here be SPOILERS)

Most of the time they rerun this thing on HBO, it doesn't have that part. You see Joan (an actress) walking out at the end of the credits, but the part where she's hypnotized and disrobes is gone.

It was on one of the HBO's today (5/13/2006) and the hypnotize/strip part was in it...
