I've never watched The Pee-wee Herman Show. I use to watch the Playhouse but I was very young, perhaps 6. The Playhouse version was created later? Wasn't there some controversy of him going from adult oriented to children?
I remember he was in a movie. He was a bell boy I think. Later on, he was caught in a porn cinema, and just like Jerry Lee Louis, his career plummeted.
NO!!! DON'T EVEN START UP A BOARD!!! OK, first of all, I shouldn't have used all caps. Second of all, no one can get arrested for being in a porn theater. You get arrested for taking off all your clothes and playing with yourself in a public area where CHILDREN may be present. CHILDREN!!!
So, yeah, I believe that Paul Reubens shouldn't have been arrested because if he's in a porn theater, why should he be arrested? He is human after all. It's not like he was killing or disturbing anyone.
Third, he didn't play a "bell boy" or something. In "Pee-Wee Herman's Big Adventure" he played his signature character Pee-Wee Herman, who told a few semi-dirty, but not shocking or lifechanging jokes in "The Pee-Wee Herman Show" which aired on HBO in 1981. Then, half a decade later and a bunch of arguing later, he got a show for kids on CBS (another cult classic: Pee-Wee's Playhouse), which contained just a pinch of adult humor, specifically designed for children to not understand and probably forget about, similar to dirty jokes that may seem non-existent, but they're there in Spongebob Squarepants.
A lot of adults say that Spongebob and Pee-Wee's Playhouse were stupid kids' shows, but I say otherwise. I firmly believe that Pee-Wee's Playhouse was not only a fun show for kids, but the adults, too. Hell, I remember my dad sitting with me and laughing his ass off. Sure, I didn't know what it meant, so I asked him. He told me to mind my own business and get past it. So, I did. Do I regret not knowing what stupid joke was contained? No.

as a matter of fact he DID play a bellboy, in cheech & chong's next movie. he also appeared in it later at a comedy club AS pee wee herman.
