Annoying characters

Still one of my favourite comedies of all time but just watched ' Little Problems' ,and was reminded how much I disliked the Driscoll brothers characters, just didn't get them. What characters do others dislike in the show?

The head of security in Longest Night and Mickey Pearce at almost any time.

"Watch this....." (Leo T McGarry - Two Cathedrals)

Gary!!!

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

Gary lol

Obviously Damien.

Cassandra after season 6. Racquel after season 7 and then all the characters in the final 3 episodes. They all just became parodies of themselves.

I thought the shop owner Mr Peterson was far more annoying. Completely overacted and the style of humour that character was suppose to be portraying didn't suit the show at all. He was like sometching you'd see in Monty Python. He just came across as cheap, awful, comic foil, with God awful lines like "I have a wife whose hobby is spending", ugh.

The chief of security (played by the chap from Eastenders) was okay, I thought. He didn't seem out of place among he other characters.

100% agree, I can't stand that Damien in the last 3 episodes.

The ridiculousness of the disparity in height of the Driscoll brothers is funny. I'm glad they weren't in it more often though.

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

See some characters like The Driscoll Brothers were good because they barely appeared, yet had they been regular characters I think we'd be fed up of them. That was also the same with Triggers character, the little we saw of him, made what he did do brilliant, where as too much of him would have made his act become stale and tedious.

Annoying characters for me as in ones I disliked were Miranda for her snobby treatment of Del Boy.

Damien, though he was a turd

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Cassandra. She was the worst thing to ever happen to only fools and horses...she's a complete and utter Snob, who's character in reality would have turned her nose up people like the trotters. She's never been funny, or added anything positive to the series, her storylines, such as her and Rodney's marriage, and miscarriage has made the show depressing to arch at times....I've seen every fools and horses episode numbers of times, and she always ruins my enjoyment. She's by far the worst main character in the series. And she's the reason I prefer the earlier seasons over the later ones, she did nothing to elevate the show. And she's the only annoying thing about it as a whole for me.

reply

Her too. No episode after 1987 is worth watching!

reply

harsh but i can see why you'd think that! Cassandra was a good sort of new situation for Rodney, but her character was just AWFUL. the earlier episodes are by far my favourites. I thought Damien was a terrible mistake as well.

reply

I think that I would go for Cassandra as well. She didn't really fit in. And it spoilt Rodney's character. In fact I would like to have seen Del Boy and Rodney remain unattached. Both of them could have played the field. Especially Del. Rodney was funnier when he faced rejection.

The Driscoll brothers didn't feel right for OFAH at all. The whole point of the series was that Del was a lovable rogue who often got mixed up with small time criminals in order to make a living. His main source of fear was the Police. But there was nothing majorly threatening about it. So when he gets intimidated by a couple of Kray-like gangsters who are also able to scare an entire pub full of people including the landlord, it all got a bit too sinister.

Eugene McCarthy was supposedly similarly terrifying, but at least he was hardly in it and he didn't directly threaten anyone.

They were like Grouty in Porridge. They were deliberately intimidating because it would have been goofy and unfunny otherwise.

reply

Damien was terrible in the last 3. Miranda was horrible too but the actress played her very well and it was still a good episode. The Driscoll brothers were absolutely hilarious and scary at the same time. The scene where they first enter the pub and wind Boycie up is absolutely terrific.

reply

Cassandra and Raquel. Moan, moan, moan, moan...

What is that thing you're using?.... It's technical.

reply

I dislike Jevon, not a good character in my opinion.

I also think Rodney's character takes a turn for the worse starting from The Frog's Legacy episode.
