Cassandra age

I've read that a lot of people thought that Gwenyth Strong had been miscast because Cassandra was only meant to be 21 when she met Rodney. I can't remember her age being referenced in any of the episodes. Where has this come from?

reply

If she was supposed to be 21 when her and Rodney first met then the doubters have got a point.
The actress was born in 1959 and first appeared in Only Fools in 1989 so she would have been a 30yr-old playing a 21-yr old.
I remember her looking older in her early scene when the raincoats got mixed up at evening classes - maybe 25-26 would have been more convincing.

"You said it was open 24 hours a day".
"Yeah but not at night!"

I totally agree. I always thought she was either the same age as Rodney or a year or two older.

I was just wondering where her age was stated. Unless John Sullivan mentioned it in an interview or in a character profile somewhere.

In the episode when Cassandra and Rodney got married, it shows their ages on the marriage certificate.

Going off thread so please accept my apologies - your profile photo is excellent...one very funny Play for Today....it's in my DVD collection alongside Abigail's Party...you sir know your comedy shows!!

Thanks! I first saw it at a friend's house during Christmas 1993 when he'd taped "At Home with Vic and Bob". I've been a fan of it ever since and have watched it many times. I loved Abigail's Party too, but have only seen it once. I must rectify that!
