The Other Peter

O'Toole needs no accolades. But Peter Strauss's performance was authentic and stirring. His character radiates intelligence, pragmatism, and righteous anger. This was a man forced into brigandry, "terrorism", and leadership. He wasn't some desert primitive taking potshots at Romans. He had a prior life as a businessman until hard times fell on Judea, at which point he resolved that the Jewish cause would never be over. He may have _looked_ the part of an illiterate nomad, but he was far from it, and Strauss flawlessly communicated Eliazar's intelligence and passion.

A far more astute and articulate laudation that I could possibly have hoped to achieve myself. <-- Massive Peter Strauss fan!!

Why, thank you, and sorry for this late reply. Yeah, I loved his performances, especially Rich Man Poor Man, Man Without a Country, Joan of Arc, Angel on my Shoulder :)

I heartily recommend Kane & Abel, Love On The Land, 83 Hours Til Dawn, Moloney, Spacehunter (of course) and, well... pretty much everything he's ever done. It sounds cheesy, but regardless of the movie or his co-stars, I've never seen a bad performance from Strauss yet!!

Too bad"The Yearling" has such a following in the original. Went to Northwestern the year he graduated. Radiant!
