Is it good? It's on DVD.

Is it good?

TBH, any answer would be highly subjective, so I would advise just watching it and making your own mind up. DVD only cost me a couple of bucks.

Personally, I enjoyed it. It's a bit cheesy here and there, and Peter O'Toole has some weird moments where he strides up all manly, but then purposely stands in this hilariously camp pose. Maybe he knows something about Roman commanders that I don't? 

But yeah, the story is sound and I would say it's worth a watch, particularly if you're a fan of Anthony Quayle or especially Peter Strauss.

Fans of British TV shows might want to see if they can spot Michael Elphick and Nick Brimble, for a laugh!!

Great feedback! What other movies would you recommend I watch?

I like biblically-based movies & of course other types of movies too.

Biblically based...?
Hmm, not sure.... I'm a Peter Strauss fan, so Joan Of Arc (starring Leelee Sobieski) hit my radar. It's far more grounded than the Milla Jovovich one, but both versions are entertaining. I's suggest watching the Milla one first.

There's also the classic The Mission!!

I've seen the 1999 movie version of Joan of Arc starring MJ, but I disliked it.

It wasn't that good.

The TV series, Joan of Arc, might be better that you recommended & I've NEVER seen the movie, The Mission!

Thanks, for those recommendations! 

I watched it last night. It was okay, but much too long.

'Good' is subjective - it's a decent enough movie to watch, but I love about anything with Peter O'Toole.

Is it accurate with what is known in accordance with 'recent' archaeology in the Ancient Near East?

Nope, it is not, it's not even close - the story as presented on screen is nothing more than heroic myth.
