Blind to themselves.

I just watched part 1 and towards the end there's a scene of the Romans driving Jews off their land and moving into their houses. There are shots of Jews asking God why he allows it and an old Jew confronting a Roman soldier over his evil ways.
Yet when this show was being filmed the Israelis were doing that exact thing to the Palestinians and had been for decades. It's like the irony was completely lost on the makers of the series.

The Jews took the land from whoever lived their first, then got the boot by the Romans and now are taking it from the Arabs. Why does the series show it completely as a Jewish story, with even shots of the Israeli army at the start? Are we just supposed to be on their side and that's it?

Anyway it is an entertaining story and enjoyable. But if they're so heavy with the symbolism of combining ancient and modern you'd think they'd get the irony when it comes to people being driven from their homes.

Yes, it was a huge mistake to show that Israeli military footage - it ruined the putative aim of presenting a story that appealed to universal human values. You're correct, Israel is as guilty against Palestians as Rome was against Second Temple Israel. The military scenes yank us out of the expected ancient-historical context, and unnecessarily remind us of the modern conflict, as well as implying that the filmmakers champion Israel's side in the mess.

So now Romans live in Italy and the Jews live in Israel so I guess Yahweh took care of everything. The Isrealis are now taking care of the Palestinians and with Barack Hussein out of the way looks like Yahweh is putting an end to this on speed dial. 👍

Who did the Jews take the land from?

The 'Jews' were actually a bunch of corn-pone illiterate indigenous Canaanites, converted by a Babylonian priest elite who came-in with a bullshit foundation myth plagiarized from bits and pieces of the ancient religions in the region.

Babylon had this done to unify & pacify the boarder region between Egypt and itself, to create a buffer zone, and to protect important trade routes.

The that a second rate derivative mythology for a bunch of ancient dirt farming hicks ever became the foundation religion for a significant part of the planet is truly a wonder of the world.
