Where to get the Jackholborn series

Does anybody know where I can buy the Jack Holborn series. I am looking for it for 9 years now.

reply

I've just put up a request for the same series. It seems that we might have to wait until we're old and grey!!I'll let you know if I have any success.

I´d love to know too. I regret I did not tape it while it was on tv many years ago...

It's just become available in France (May 2004) on a double DVD set but it's only got French and German language and French subtitles. (Try www.fnac.com). I read French fairly well so I bought it and found I could follow what was going on OK if I had the French subtitles on. Maybe this is a precursor to it being released worldwide, you never know. Picture and sound are reasonable, there's loads of text pages (In French and German) plus a 35min interview with Patrick Bach (In English) from Jan 2004 where he talks about his experiences. Also it's got several cuts from the music score (in mono but good quality). It's a Region 2 PAL system DVD.

I have the last episode in english on vhs tape.. Unfortunately, despite years of effort I've never been able to find the other episodes.

This would be the right place to order the Jack Holborn DVD:

Hi,

I have been hunting for Jack Holborn in English for a long time. I wish they would release the English version, but in the meantime I'd settle for the German version. Does anyone know if the German version come with German subtitles? That would help me since I've had some German in school. Annie L

reply

Unfortunately, the German version has no subtitles whatsoever. The French version has both German and French sound, and French subtitles, if that is any help. I kind of wish I'd bought that version now, but apparently some people have been having technical problems with one of the discs, so perhaps I'm better off with the German one.

For those of us whose French and German are both appalling, there's still no joy at all. *Sulks*

A few clips have turned up on YouTube - German soundtrack only. Can't understand a word, but it looks good! I remember loving this series as a kid. It would be so good to see it again one day.

They are? Where did you hear this? If it's coming, this is the best news so far this year! . The, er... *cough* internet pixies *cough* have delivered some of it to me, but they say that they can't come up with the rest, as there are no more seeds. Magic seeds, probably grown into beanstalks. But if it's to come out on DVD, that would be wonderful!
