I tried to like it but I think it was TOO close to the book.

I know that that begins the argument though of " People complain when it is not close enough and when it is too close" but this just does not sit right with me and if you had not read the book or heard the radio series the show would make no sense to you like they only illustrate instead of telling what happens when it goes to what the book is saying and the whole thing seems too lazily done for my liking.

That's why it was so good because it was almost exactly the literal visual translation!!! This show would probably suck just like the movie did if they had taken too much poetic license!!!

The radio show came first, then the T.V. show, then the book, and then another radio show, and finally the movie. Thier so similar because Douglas Adams wrote the first radio show and T.V. show, then basically transcribed them into a book form.

The books came between the radio and TV series.

I agree, the original mini-series level of humor was far more subtle, clever and just funnier.
