ok, so if Disney owns the rights.......

If disney has bought the rights has anyone heard how they intend to treat it?

I mean perhaps they could give it to their animation department and release
it under the Touchstone or Hollywood Pictures banner.

I mention this because some of the images I pictured upon hearing the radio
broadcasts or reading the books could never be recreated using live action but
could be using animation.

I really have to disagree with you on the "never be recreated using live action" thing. The books could easily be made using live action with a whole lot of computer animated effects. Just look at some of the movies out know... LOTR, Matrix, and some others that probably exceed the Hitchhiker books in the amount of special effects needed to pull them off. There just isn't much that CAN'T be done with todays technology. I know Disney does a whole lot of animated stuff, but I sincerely doubt that they plan to make these books into a full length animated feature. You loose the star power and a big chunk of potential audience when you go animated. Plus, it would just be a travesty to the books themselves. They're much deeper and more complex than one would think and I just don't see them as a movie that a mom would take her 7 year old to see like it was any of the other crappy animated Disney films that they've been putting out lately. With the exception of "New Groove" which was pretty good actually.

I think they'll probably make a movie from the material sometime around 2005, but it probably won't be very good.
