Zaphod and Trillian

where did zaphod and trillian end up after they were transported of the disaster area stunt ship?

reply

If I remember correctly from the book, Zaphod ends up at the Hitchhikers guide headquarters, and I don't really remember at all where Trillian ends up, it was numerous years ago when I last read the book... Maybe she went with Zaphod but I really don't think so...
Anyway if you want me to check just let me know and I will go.

reply

No, I remember that it's definitely Ford Prefect that eventually ends up at the Hitchhiker's Guide headquarters. I don't think we see Trillian again until the last book, and I think Zaphod is only mentioned in some footnotes. I don't know, it's been a long time since I read all the books too.

Arthur and Ford first end up on the Golgafrincham ark ship, while Trillian and Zaphod end back up on the bridge of the Heart of Gold.

The book is in front of me right now, and it goes like this: after escaping on the Disaster Area sunship, they teleport off. Arthur and Ford end up on the Golgafrinchian Ark B, which crashlands on Earth. Trillian and Zaphod end up on the bridge of the Heart of Gold, where they meet up with Zarniwoop. Eventually, they land on a small planet, where they meet the Ruler of the Universe and his cat. During the conversation, Trillian and Zaphod sneak away and soar off in the Heart of Gold, leaving Zarniwoop trapped in the downpour of rain.

reply

Warrior Alien is right.
What's more, shortly after that, Zaphod insults Trillian for the last time and she dumps him, leaves the Heart of Gold and teleports herself off to the longest running party in the history of the universe where she hooks up with Thor the thunder god before Arthur saves her and she ends up on the Heart of Gold again. We never really learn whether she particularly wanted to go.

reply

Yes..Zaphod insults Trillian, she leaves...He starts moping round teh ship, fixes things, and realizes how he feels for her,and decide dto go after her...

After all,in Mostly Harmless, they end up being married, and have a couple of kids or something,at least, that's what i think they were.."
As Ford Tells Arthur...

reply

Actually, Trillian has a daughter "with" Arthur, not with Zaphod...

"What do we do now?"
"Enjoy it..."

reply

Is that in the 5th book or soemthing?
I don't rememebr it. I remember Ford telling Arthur how much Zaphod had calmed down and started a family... with Trillian.

I'm not, therefore I am. Work that one out.

reply

<BOOK SPOILER?>

That was "Mostly Harmless", the fifth book of the Trilogy.
Trillian splits with Zaphod, then goes to a Galactic Sperm/DNA Bank and Arthur's DNA is the only human donor. So she has his child, tries the single mom routine, then ends up finding Arthur and dumping their daughter with him. He tries to get acquainted with his daughter, now a brooding teenager. Then they all die a horrible death, like in Titanic, but with no survivors.

Pretty depressing, but DNA was going through a divorce at the time, so it coloured his view of the world. I wish he had lived to turn his notes from "The Salmon Of Doubt" into the sixth book of the Trilogy, with a happier ending, like he planned.

reply

Man, I wish I could go to that party.

"Okay, that takes care of him."

Hahahahahaha!

Eventually, they land on a small planet, where they meet the Ruler of the Universe and his cat.

Why does that guy rule they Universe? All he does is talk about how reality is an illusion and stuff like that. No, no...not why does he rule the Universe...how does he? That whole scene makes no sense. But then again, what doesn't make sense about leaving the lives of millions of people in the hands of a guy who likes pencils, named his cat "The Lord" and doesn't even WANT to rule the Universe? IT'S JUST SO CONFUSING I WANT TO SCREAM!!1

reply

That's the whole point. It explains why the Universe is such a confusing place. It also goes along with the bits about the President of the Galaxy. (To paraphrase) "Anyone who *wants* to be the President should by no means be *allowed* to be President".

I base my entire political views on that line.

reply

K5ing has it spot on, if someone started jumping about saying I should rule the country/world/universe we should lock them up for their & our sakes. Find someone fairly competent & give them the job with time off for good behavior, can't be worse than appointing an idiot because 51 idiots voted for him whilst 49 idiots voted for the other dolt.

you can't get the wood you know

reply

Remember the part about the men in black suits coming to ask for the man's advice? He's just a wise man who knows no details of the galaxy. The "real" government uses his wisdom to rule, while using a high-profile figurehead (distraction) like Zaphod to make the rest of the populace think he is the real President, and that elections actually mean anything, when in reality the actual rulers rule from the shadows...

"What do we do now?"
"Enjoy it..."

i thought she got forced to marry someone but it turns out that zaphod never really went through the whole adventure but just dreamed it while being tortured by the total perspective matrix and was found at the hitchhikers building by trillion? i could be wrong...
