The gangster Chronicles is indeed one of the best movies about gangsterwars ever. I saw the show on TV in 1982 or so when it was shown on Dutch TV. I's like to see it again. I've heard there is a shortened version on VHS but I want to see the whole miniserie. is there anybody out there (sounds like pink floyd?) who taped the miniserie and who could send me a copy?

It is? Where did you see that, I've seen a documentary called Gangster Chronicles available on dvd but not the Michael Nouri/Joe Penny mini-series.

Amazon has FALSE listings for this. There is a DVD titled GANGSTER CHRONICLES, but it is not the mini-series, it is a documentary about the real-life individuals in the series...but Amazon lists the cast members from the drama as appearing on the DVD which is very confusing! (I swear, Amazon doesn't know the first thing about quality control--I guess they make tons of cash off of sales of false merchandise and then just sit on the interest until the pissed-off party decides to rip them a new a-hole because they were sent the wrong item!).
Supposedly there is (was) a 2 disc VHS set of the entire mini-series but I haven't been able to find it--it's rarer than a virgin in Hollywood. There was also a 2 hour condensed tape of the series called GANGSTER WARS which is somewhat easier to find, although it isn't cheap either.
Mini-series really get short shrift, dont' they?
