How many people like season 2?

I've watched the bulk of the FM episodes from season 1 and I'm enjoying the series so far. I see in the trivia section and even a couple of people on this forum talking about how disappointing season 2 was--does anybody like season 2?

First, S2 is really only a half-season at 13 eps. Out of those 13 eps, only a couple are halfway decent. The rest are "just okay". I wouldn't call them terrible - they're perfectly watchable - but they aren't as good as the S1 eps. The writing just was not as good in S2 and the show had a different feel from S1. Season 1 ends on a perfect high-note that provides a good cap to the series as a whole. So if you never see Season 2, don't fret about it much. IMO, rather than thinking of this show as short-lived, the best way to think of this show is as a long multi-part mini-series as it's kind of got that feel and the last S1 episode provides a great "finale".

I agree , I think the first season feels like a mini series with a good happy ending that ties everything together. You would literally think that it was meant and conceived to be a mini series all along. Season 2 just feels like an after thought . There is just something lacking to season 2, everything felt meh! and directionless. With that said, I really love the first 18 episodes that makes season 1.

I am too young to have watched it when it was first released but as someone who grew up with reruns of the Michael Landon shows I jumped on the DVD when it came out. I felt I was discovering an hidden gem.

The show was OK.

I re-watched the show just recently and I can conform that season 2 is really inferior. I think the fact that season one ended with such closure, having Murphy covered being blown out and having him getting married to Mae and getting the right to keep all the children just did not leave anything exciting for a season two. Also Mr Rodman was a fun antagonist in season 1 because yes, he was nasty but he was a little silly too, a little campy, he was a bad guy that was fun to watch (He even had his own little theme music) and he was completely gone in season 2 and replaced by Richard Garret (In a very contrived plot of him being the twin brother of Paul Garret from the pilot) , however Richard Garret was not fun , he was just plain evil and that change of antagonist gave the show a heavier feeling. Actually in general, the 13 episodes of season 2 are for the most part darker, not as heart warming as the first season, it really felt like a different show, like a soft reboot when people where perfectly happy with the way the show already was. So yeah I think season 1 feels like a complete show and those extra 13 episodes of season 2 really do not fit.
