Falcon Crest in talks to be rebooted!

tvguide.com reports that an original writer of the series has contacted cast members about rebooting FC, much like Dallas was on TNT. William Moses said the series would likely focus on the charaacter of Cole and his kids, along with the charcter or Richard Channing.

They should have:

Cole
Richard
Lance
Melissa
Julia
Emma

...and all their nubile offspring

Chase & Maggie should appear as ghosts, spectres warning their son about this-n-that.

I would also add Father Christopher, Julia's son who's a priest, plus all the kids these characters had. I know Richard had Michael and Danny, Maggie had Kevin, Cole had Joseph, Lance had 1 or 2 kids he didn't raise, and Emma had her daughter. Plus, they likely had more kids once the show left the air. Characters like Vicky or Dan Fixx could always come and go every so often, kind of like Lucy and Ray do on the new Dallas.

Of course. That what I meant by "all their nubile offspring."

At long last the horrible idea of killing Maggie is a chicken that is going to come home to roost. Who wouldn't love to seen Richard and Maggie together again in 2014? But now that won't be possible...

Personally I would "Dream Seasons" away everything after Maggie died since there was nothing there redeemable about the show...especially the hellacious last season.

Probably the Golden Age of Falcon Crest was right up until the Earthquake season finale. When the show came back they horrendously dispensed with the Greg and Jordan kidnapping off screen...slowly season by season the show devolved into its whimpering ending.

The last season was terrible. Genele Ericson and Michael Sharpe? Instant vomit.

If they see to ever reboot the show, I could look past the producers making the final season a dream, or pretending it never happened--kind of like "Dallas" did with its two reunion movies when it was rebooted.

They wouldn't need to treat the final season as a dream, they could just ignore it. The only thing of significance that happened in that season that would have had lasting ramifications would be Maggie's death- Angela's stint in a coma, Charley, Michael, etc could simply never be referred to again; Lauren could have died off screen. Enough time has passed that if there were to be a new show (and it seems unlikely now), the focus would be on the children of Lance, Cole, Vicki, and Melissa.

Melissa would still be dead.

Michael Sharpe was the only good thing in the last season. The Giobertis were all gone, which is why Season 9 was based on the rivalry between the Channings and the Sharpes.

A reboot would be a terrible idea, damn near 30 years later. Most of the principle cast members are either dead or haven't been very active in a number of years, which would lead to a mish mash of aging actors the years have not been kind to, and recasts, thus why the point.

With Melissa and Maggie dead, no way. Worst decisions made killing both those great characters.

Actors are mere products of a good writer's imagination
