Was Alexis ever mentioned in Season One?

Did the topic of Fallon and Steven's absent mother ever come up? I only watched a couple of episodes from that season. It was hard to get thru, except for the Ted Dinard murder trial.

I don't know how she couldn't have been mentioned-- especially when Krystle was getting to know Blake's kids. But she might not have been given a name until the trial when she was called to testify.

I haven't seen all the season 1 episodes so we'll let someone more knowledgeable come on and tell us..!

Yes, in the second hour of the pilot, in the library confrontation scene between Steven and Blake, Steven brings up "when Mother left..." and Blake quickly shifts the subject back to his son's worthlessness.

Later in the season (I think in "Krystle's Lie") Fallon and Steven have a conversation on his bed where she mentions that when their mother left they had no idea where she went or what happened to her.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that they did not know if there would be an ex-wife/mother character when the show first aired in 1981. I think reviews were mixed after the first season. The audience had a hard time accepting Blake as both protagonist and antagonist. Yes, Cecil Colby could be seen as the antagonist/nemesis character, but he wasn't the kind of villain you love-to-hate as much as they needed him to be. When Alexis arrived, Blake's character was significantly softened. He was able to play more of a straight protagonist - hero, if you will - and Joan Collins stole the show as the show's antagonist while still evoking a sense of sympathy from the viewers. The rest is history. It was that new character and the change in Blake that made the show so popular for years to come.
