Is this the closest adaptation?

I've only recently read the book and absolutely loved it. Wonderful read. Anyhoo the recent TV adaptation was utter bollox. How does this fare as an adaptation? Is it the closest one to the book?

Thanx in advance!

Absolutely, the 1981 version is very faithful to the book, a few things missed out to save time and a few nice touches put in so you don't see everything coming, if you`re a fan of the book you really need to see this, you won`t be disappointed.

The 1962 film goes off on it`s own tangent quite quickly, not saying you wouldn't like it but it`s nothing like the book.

This version is really close to the book, just like the above poster mentioned.
Pretty much exactly like the book but some small unimportant bits removed to improve the story telling. The biggest differences between the book and this series (apart from the time it is set in) is (book spoiler)Bills (the main guy) difficulty in finding his lady love (Jo/Josella) and the other group of survivors he hooks up with that help search for her. Also near the end at the farm they have more trouble keeping the Triffids out because they breed/grow quickly and adapt to the attempts to keep them out. But even those are not really important.

Yes, the 1981 series is very close to the book. It's also far better than that unforgettable remake of a while ago, but that's pretty standard these days. They don't make me like they use to, and old but very true saying.
