Bought the entire collected series

and intend to watch them all again. Geoffrey Palmer as Ben was my favourite character and episode one confirms that's still the case. The series is whimsical, largely owing to Ria's character but some of the writing is very sharp. A few favourite lines from the first episode:
Ria: Love is a butterfly. You see it, you want it, you grab it in your hand and then it is all squashed.

Ben: They're trying to make me believe that if I don't use a certain type of aftershave I'll be impotent.

Ria: As long as I have Adam I don't need valium.

Ria: My face will gather speed reach my 50th birthday before I do.

Ria's meals described as 'hurl-it-in-a-pan-and-try-it' dinners!

Maybe you can help me - I've just been watching the re-runs on Yesterday, the final episode was just on but at the last minute (Ria was in the phone box calling Ben) I sat on the remote and hit the mute button! So I missed what she said to Ben, can you tell me? Will PM you too.

She said: "Leonard, I'm coming home". (I may be paraphrasing slightly, but that was the gist!)

Sorry, Ben, I meant! (I always get their names mixed up!)

Ria called Ben and told him I'm coming home. It was a pretty sad end and in fact series 4, with its changes of titles, was more sombre than the previous ones.

They don't make them like this anymore.

I absolutely LOVED this series. This old show used to come on a local PBS station in Southern California in the late '80s and I would sit on the carpet in front of our "ColorTyme" (rebranded Curtis Mathes, made in USA) big TV and watch it in rapt attention. It was my favorite show and planned my day around it. I was newly married and the show kind of mirrored my own thoughts at the time. I did get tears in my eyes in the last episode, and I was sorry it was all over when the series concluded. I envy your collection I wish I too had one, but once you've seen it well, it's not like the kind of show I would want to watch over and over again, but it would be nice to have it

PS- your signature about "Fatima" and "scoots" "Scooting" is what we call when a dog or cat's anal glands are clogged and they relieve it by "scooting" across the carpeting by squatting and propelling themselves using their front paws with their back legs splayed in the air, bottom sliding along. I can't help picturing that repulsive scene whenever I read or hear the word "scoots"
