The Weirdest Thing About This Show....

....was all the references to Jan and Marcia having sex with their husbands. It put visuals in my head. The original "Brady" series was so sexless, and the family was so clean and proper they didn't even have a toilet, the thought of Marcia Brady getting rammed by Wally Logan is....just very odd.

And there were both Jan and Marcia in their miniskirts. Nothing sexless about that...the 70sa..

They did indeed go out of their way to show Marcia and Jan were sexually driven newlyweds. Wally being a nudist vs. Phil's victorian attitude showed how the two couples differed, yet both were supposed to be aimed at...twentysomethings who grew up with the Brady Bunch? Were they fascinated with the girl's sex lives? The older crowd? Kids? I can see why this show failed to find a nitch.

What's disturbing is despite all the sexual innuendo, Marcia and Jan end up acting just as childish as they did as teenagers...sometimes even more so. And despite the rather interesting premise for the show, they ended up really churning out horrid episode plots (like Jan designing the snow lodge for the crusty old woman, who luckily likes the country western "theme" after Marcia and Wally throw a impromptu party. Man that would have been a bad Brady Bunch episode.

To this day I still wonder why they decided on the "Wally" character for Marcia. He doesn't fit her very-well established tastes in men AT ALL. The only thing I can think is that he makes her laugh...

Great, now I have a visual of Wally banging Marcia and it aint pretty. And to think Mickey and Jessica, two of the most vapid children ever, emerged from this union.

Too bad we never got to see the offspring of Jan and Phil. A snobbish child prodigy with complex issues?

Different times, that's why.

and the fact both pretty girls are married to complete dorks. not good. jerry houser is a great actor and very cool, but he's a troll and marcia is gorgeous.

reply

Agree, the show was poorly conceived, written and casted. Jerry Houser is at his best as a obnoxious oddball, like in 'Summer of 42'

I agree. And Jan should have married me. I'm not a dork. I'm George Glass.

The Brady girls grew up.

When Marcia dated good-looking guys like 'Big Man on Campus' Doug Simpson or the Fairview quarterback, Jerry Rogers, she was usually screwed over big time. Quite often she had much better relationships with the nerdy boys -- like Charley 'Something Suddenly Came Up' Anderson, Alan Anthony (from the braces episode), and even insect collector Harvey Klinger. So I can see why she was attracted to and eventually married good ol' Wally Logan!
