they got something wrong...

in the audio commentary on the new DVD, John Waters and Lewis Jackson keep referring to "Silent Night Deadly Night" as "Silent Night Bloody Night" although I assume anyone familiar with "You Better Wach Out" probably knows the difference between these other two films...

and PS at one point Waters asks Jackson if "You Better Watch Out" was known under any other title besides "Christmas Evil" and he answers no, but it was definitely known as "Terror in Toyland" at some point. perhaps as a video release?

Silent Night, Bloody Night is a film made BEFORE Black Christmas not about a killer Santa but a maniac escaping from an insane asylum near Christmas. Just to clear up the confusion.

the film they're referring to in the commentary is indeed Silent Night, Deadly Night, and they both got the name wrong.

Silent Night Bloody Night has no deranged person dressed as Santa in it.

I have not listened to the commentary, but there is a film called "Silent Night Bloody Night" from 1973 with Mary Woronov.

"Black Christmas" (the original) came out in 1974.

"Silent Night Deadly Night" came out in 1984, and is the only film of these 3 to feature a killer Santa, which caused some problems when they tried to release it in theatres.

They also say that Brandon Maggert had moral qualms about the movie and probably wouldnt get involved with the release at all, when in fact, he seemed pretty active with the Troma release

Just to elaborate a little further, he's seems to totally ignore or purposely forget his involvement with Brandon on the Troma release, only stating that he talked to Brandon a couple of years ago when a bootleg was released. Just thought it was totally odd that he would not bring up his involvment with the Troma release at all, making it seem like this is the only definitive release, when in fact the Troma release had some pretty cool features too, (except the picture sucked)

Besides YOU BETTER WATCH OUT, CHRISTMAS EVIL, and TERROR IN TOYLAND, there's a fourth title that I've never seen mentioned in regards to this film's many titles. An old issue of "Cinefantastique" that I have refers to the then-upcoming film as SANTA.
