Bad Advertising (Spoilers)

This seems to be something from the eighties with horrible advertising and this movie takes the cake. This is NOT a horror movie but more of a psycological character study. I just got another copy of the movie [because my other copy is in horid shape] and the back of the cover says this as the description: "A Man dressed as Santa Claus is stalking the streets, brutally murdering innocent girls. Who's to say if the kindly old gent, whose knee your daughter sits upon, is a maniacal murderer?" What are they talking about? He never murders any children in the movie. The only scene where he kills anyone is the scene where he kills those corrupt corporate guys. Other than that he plainly shows that he loves children and really believes that he is Santa. Anyone else agree that the advertising was bad? If so name a few other movies with bad advertising.

Yes, I very much agree. I just watched it for the first time today expecting to see some horrible low-budget slasher flick and was stunned to find it was actually a fairly interesting, very well-acted psychological drama. Much better than I ever expected. The marketing of this film is very much misguided.

Even I must admit, when I first heard of this movie and saw the cover art work I thought "Oh yeah, another killer Santa movie" but when I watched the movie, I was more then impressed.

I actualy thought Harry's world was just darkened from
what he saw on Christmas that night with his folks..
and the way he dealt with his hurt feelings is take
it out on the people who bashed Christmas or Santa!!

Harry infact just needed some counseling to cope with
what he saw on Christmas Eve!!

He was not realy a bad guy, he was just frusterated
about what he saw, so he probably got obsessed about
Christmas and Santa as a way to hide his greif!!

Even if I did not like Christmas, I would never
bad mouth it to no one..or curse about it!!

Those guys at the church who were making fun
of Harry and bashing Santa were asking for it!!

What are the purposes of signatures!!..

Had the same experience, purchased it years ago from a bargain bin and was suprised to see it was much more than just Freddy Krueger in a Santa suit. I'd take this over yet another "franchise character goes after teens who have sex" 80s flick any day.

I think they merged Christmas Evil's plot w\ New Years Evil. The Good Times Video release of Psycho II stated

"More Intense than the Original Psycho II!"
