There is talk already by Steven Garrett of Unearthed Films (.com) to get this package together. If it anything like the Rock and Rule DVD set coming out it would be a dream to the fans of this movie. His company has a nack for hunting down any availible master and cut from these films. Every sountrack deleted scene, interview, and movie poster possible, sometimes having to fight for it. then restores it to pristine, if not beter film and sound quality. This is the guy to ask, and he has just made a call out to his newsletter readers to give impressions and thumbs up to this idea. I believe he may have connection to Mike Jittlov.
I believe you can find his email address on the web site. But maybe you rather email me for it. the site does alot of disturbung japanese and other foreign horror.

I second the notion of a WoS&T DVD!

It's the best movie You've never heard of.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0081766/

Befour Superman, before Rambo, before Pee Wee Herman, there was "The Wizard of Speed & Time"! An eccentric Genius who built a motion picture legend in his own garage. Based on the true-life story of the worlds most unknown film maker & blown up out of all proportions. This, the classic story of the little guy, going up against the system, fighting corrupt & evil movie producers, and overcoming unbelievable & ridiculas odds, all to win the heart of the girl he loves......and maybe the rest of her as well.
Shot on the same film stock as Roger Rabbit(?) & Star Wars, and filmed around the world in a special process that is technically unexplainable.
You'll see electrifying special effects, laugh at mind numbingly stupid jokes, and gasp in awe that they actually got big name stars to be in this. You'll see financing, fencing, crowd scenes, chase scenes, this is the motion picture with everything! IT'S EVEN GOT THE KITCHEN SINK!I'ts the kind of movie YOU would make if You didn't have anything better to do. Five Years in the making, so see it while You can and tell Your friends You've got to be off to see the Wizard! Speeding to an Ebay near You!

Also kind of a true story.

Also kind of a true story.
That part is interesting. They guy who plays the evil movie producer in the film, Richard Kaye, is also a real life producer and distributor, and he really did screw Mike Jittlov out of thousands of dollars.

Now he's screwing himself out of a lot of potential money by sitting on the distribution rights, and not working with Mike to release a fully loaded DVD, out of spite.

Hey, have you been to Mike's website? http://www.wizworld.com/

He has links somewhere on there to other Wizard pages. The owner of one of them makes VHS transfers from her Laserdisc copy of the film for free! All you have to do is send her a tape. Maybe she could make a DVD copy? I don't know, I don't know if she even does it anymore. Check it out. And she has been "officially granted" by Mike to do this.

hey, I just found the link to that page here http://wosat.remulak.net/Korsaire

Have fun

I wish! We only have this on laserdisc, and our laserdisc player broke. Nobody knows how to fix one anymore, so we can't watch it. This was one of my favorite films as a kid.

*I love that the movies I like get horrible reviews. It makes them come out on DVD earlier.*

I have to add my voice to those who want this movie out on DVD. It was an excellent film and almost unknown among the world at large. It has a guaranteed fan base and if released that will oly continue to grow as fans recommend it to more people. The more recommendations, the more DVD sales.

On his usenet group, I heard some distributors were talking to him about it, but he could smell a cheat a mile away after Kaye left his stench. (a close paraphrase to something I think HE said)

reply

I agree! This is just a plain old entertaining film that can be enjoyed by all. Luckily I had a VHS copy (ableit a copy itself) I was able to record to DVD (film trailer intact) and still enjoy it as a 3rd generation. The magic of the movie let's me excuse my copy's less than perfect quality. It's one of the few movies I wait anxiously to be released on DVD.

It would appear that somehow Mike got all the rights to the movie bacj, although I don't know any details. I do know that there is a torrent of a WOSAT DVD image out on the Net now which starts up with a message stating that he has all the rights and is allowing free distribution of the image. I downloaded and burned a copy just this past weekend, in fact and can confirm that it appears to be the real deal. It's a bare-bones DVD -- just the trailer, the film and chapter selection; the message makes mention of a future special edition and gives contact information for anyone wanting to license rights from Mike.

Hey, I just bought a used copy on VHS and it plays great! I'm gonna try to record a copy from VCR to VCR (I don't have a DV-r burner yet), so here's hoping that it turns out ok! There are times that even a copy will suffice, when something you love is out of print - or very rare!~ (and sometimes, even a copy-of-a-copy!)
"I'll take it!"

This movie MUST be made in DVD form with MANY behind the scenes extras. I have this on VHS but it is getting thin. Not many views left in it. PLEASE, PLEASE put this great movie on DVD!

Tomorrow is another day....
and i'll probably screw that one up to.

Kev.

Better yet, it would be awesome if the DVD in the special features section included all his short films from Animato and the original WOSAT short from '79.

reply

Another absurd example of distribution rights being sat on.
They must be embarassed by a small film doing so well.
