Should've beened titled...

I think the title should have been "Flying, Blood-sucking Burritos From Outer Space." I must admit though it did have some good suspense scenes. I still don't understand why writers believe that a creature so advanced to travel through space would have a one word vocabulary of : "arrrggghhh."

Hey Mav, you got the number of that truckdrivin' school, Truck Masters I think it is..

I think it should've been called "Armageddon Menagerie" after the two episodes of Star Trek they stole props from....

Someone who thinks 'beened' is a real word can't complain about the vocabulary of space monsters.

Sorry Zombie, I don't recall using the word "beened." I know that the cranium area is know as "bean", as in "bean ball."

You used 'beened' in the title of the thread!

Now be nice, he might be a guest to our country. Or bravely trying to enter a new word into the English vocabulary. 😁

reply

Well it should NOT have been called Without Warning, since Jack Palance did indeed WARN the kids in one of the first scenes. I believe he said "I'm warning you."

reply

But they wouldn't have been able to fit "Crazy guy warns everyone but they all ignore him till they get picked off one by one" on the sleeve.

This movie is pure garbage.

Movie is Awesome. Made for $150,000, and half of it went to pay Jack Palance and Walter Koenig. Even in 1980 a $75,000 movie was nearly impossible.

reply

Walter Koenig isn't in this film. Maybe you meant Martin Landau, who plays Fred Dobbs (the whacked out Vietnam vet "Sarge").

reply

Oops! I knew that. I must have been on a Star trek board before This. Martin Landau, Space 1999, Bella Lagosi in Ed Wood, and I believe he was in the old Missionn Impossible series once in a while.

reply

"even back then $75,000 were nearly impossible"

Roger Corman made lots of movies on average for around $25,000 a pop back then.
There'd be variations on that dependant on what actors were hired
but it can be done today too quite easily and often is.
Shotting in 35MM is costly so nowadays its easier what with the digital cameras
that are making things easier for film makers to get things shot.

I think the Danish title is much better than Without Warning.
Jagtområde Jorden - tranlates to Hunting Ground Earth.

I saw this in 1980 as "It Came Without Warning" which seems a better title.

The Blu ray has a reversible insert. If you turn it around, you have a much better poster which I believe was the original. I know that's the poster I saw at the Army Theater in Acshaffenburg Germany. The reversed insert uses the "It Came Without Warning" title. It shows a terrified girl fleeing one if the flying creatures.
