At one point in the movie, Adele comes home and finds all her furniture gone. A note says that now we're even, signed BT. Of course, the meaning is that BT took (stole) her furniture. But, what does "Now we're even" mean?

BT knew Adele was going to be evicted so he took all she had out in time to save it. By saying "now we are even" he only meant he had paid back her kindness.

That's much better than my logic, I thought it was because she had taken the money he'd left on the table .. lol
