What happened to the scene outside the bar where they try to hang the lawyer? After they are thrown out and Thompson says"That's what we get for trying to help people" It has vanished from all known copies.

Really eh? Damn I would have liked to see that.

I don't know why they do that with older movies, cut scenes out I mean. Why not leave the movie intact? What purpose does it serve? I've actually even noticed it with a few newer movies.

I asked about this scene years ago and got no replies. I thought maybe I was imagining things. Always loved the "trying to help people" line.

Is it possible the scene we are remembering is from a TV cut of the movie? Though I don't recall them showing this on TV too often.
