Could have been a hit

I think if the script had been better written, the bridge scene not being the big ending (instead perhaps the hotel explosion and rescue).

With a budget double that of Star Wars, i find this hard to see why the special effects are awful. Yes Bisset, Holden and Newman were paid over $1 million but i think the lack of effects was the nail in the coffin.

Also the timing was bad, i think if this had been made instead of The Swarm in 1978

Wasn't this an Irwin Allen Film......It's self explanatory

too much of a retread, (newman pretty much exactly the same character as he was in towering inferno...holden too) script was just weak, too much early emphasis on romance, took too long (bout an hour) for the real disaster to hit, and not so great special effects. still not horrible (-: ill watch anything with bisset and barbara carrera

I love Jackie Bisset but in this movie she didn't look good at all....... Was there something wrong with her at the time?

I mean in the 1983 movie Class she looked a whole lot better and was quite delicious.

she looks alright to me, she was 35 at the time, maybe partying a little too much in Hawaii (-:

Yeah, this movie was terrible. The special effects were a joke, especially considering that this was a big budget film. There was far too much nonsense dialogue and far too little action.
