When Time Ran Out...is a good movie

The movie has an atmosphere of impending doom to it and the chilling descent of a bell into a formenting volcano. NBC would run this numerous times back in the eighties and I could not understand why as it was rated very poor...until I actually sat thru it. Apparently the nielsen`s that NBC were getting at the time belied this. Remember folks. The audience is NEVER wrong. You have to have decades of TV and movie viewing experience (as I do, 40+ years worth) to have that intuitive sense or "feel" if something is good or not. When Time Ran Out is in actuality a good film. Hell, James Goldstone directed the 2nd star trek pilot, didnt he? `nuff said.

Like you i like this movie however, in the industry you can make the best movie ever but if no-one goes to watch it, it's comsidered a flop!

I rented When Time Ran Out on DVD and I loved it! You can see its influence on Dante's Peak and Volcano(1997). Those Hawaiian children(Jaylin Maureen Acol and Reed Derwin Acol)were very adorable. They must've been siblings in real life. Interestingly, this is the only film they appeared in. I also liked Lalo Schifrin's music score; it fits the dark, harrowing, suspenseful feel of the movie.

It was one of Allen's decent disaster efforts alongside BEYOND THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, both of which I loved as a kid! Irwin's one true failure was THE SWARM! Paul Newman stated in an interview with Larry King that this was the one movie in his career he regretted doing but he owed Allen one more movie as per his contract after INFERNO! I loved the lava bridge finale but like INFERNO, Allen didn't have the nerve to kill off his big name stars as once again only the supporting players bought the farm!

I gave it 10/10. it's not boring, it serves a purpose - keep you watching it,, i find it more believable and true with cheap FX than todays CGI
