The Urban cowboy was urban because he went to the clubs.


He didn't have to move or get a different job. He had a social grace and dignity about him because he was being a socialite hitting the clubs all the time mingling and that's what made him Urban. He didn't really have to go anywhere to get these qualities or move. He chose to be urban that way and is why he imbued certain qualities of sophistication in his mannerisms.

At least that's what I think.

Some would say he's a city guy and it appears that he lives in the city but I think he lives right outside of the city and you can see it from his work place but the first time he hooks up with the new chick, she asks him if he comes to the city often and he says no.

He's urban because he lives in Houston, which compared to where he's from is a big city. He's a cowboy living in a city. There was no sophistication to his character. Furthermore, going to a club requires no sophistication.
